You Can Carry Your Gun in the State You Got Your Permit but Where Else? If Senator John Cornyn Gets His Wish, EVERYWHERE!

So, you have your concealed carry permit. You paid money for a course then for the actual card that says you took the course and allows you to carry. However, when you travel, better know what states your permit is valid in or you could find yourself on the wrong end of the law. As it stands, many states share reciprocity with other states, meaning if your permit is a Utah permit, you’re good to go in a bunch of other states…but not all! This map at USA Carry is an excellent resource for reciprocity in other states.
United States Senator, John Cornyn of Texas has just introduced The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2014. According to the Senator’s website, it “would allow individuals with concealed carry privileges in their home state to exercise those rights in any other state that also has concealed carry laws.”
AWwBA wholly supports Senator Cornyn’s effort’s and we hope that all of our followers get behind him too by dropping him a note of support and thanks via his Senate email. Moreover, CONTACT YOUR U.S. CONGRESSPEOPLE HERE and tell them to support this NOW. This is coming up early this week!
Senator Cornyn made the following statement via his website:
This bill strengthens two of our nation’s most fundamental rights, ensuring law-abiding gun owners can lawfully carry their weapons into like-minded states, while respecting the rights of states to adopt laws that are best-suited for the people of that state. This is an important affirmation of the Second Amendment and one that has been a top priority of law-abiding gun owners in Texas for some time. It is time to get this done.
Senator Cornyn and people of his ilk are the ones we need to support now more than ever in order to keep our Constitution intact. Thank you Senator for being a real leader and thanks to the people of the great state of Texas for electing you.
