Mission Statement

Jon and Evan James

Jon James with grandson, Evan

Hi. I’m Jon James. I’m an avid shooter, gun collector and am proud to be an American.  I believe that women are a very active and under represented part of the shooting world and are usually just a side note of some of the nation’s biggest gun organizations.  Not here. Here women ARE the organization.

American Women who Bear Arms was born of a smaller site, Maine Girls with Guns. After starting with a simple Pinterest and Facebook page, I saw how quickly interest grew and decided that maybe this thing should be bigger.

My mission is simple. I want to recognize women and all they contribute to shooting sports, whether it’s competitive shooting or hunting. I also want to highlight women who feel safer because they exercise their second amendment right to be armed…whether it’s in their home, on their person or both. Guns can and do save lives of women and their families every day. There are plenty of examples out there that highlight this and I promise we will spotlight these stories whenever we can.

Welcome to the American Women who Bear Arms family. I want you to be a part of the movement…share your stories and pictures and, together, let’s see where this thing goes!

What American Women who Bear Arms IS:

AWwBA is dedicated to highlighting women who proudly support the second amendment and want to show their communities and the world that it is a right they exercise and are proud to show it. Women featured can be hunters, target shooters, competitive shooters, police officers, soldiers, concealed carry citizens or just women who believe strongly in the rights given to all Americans under the second amendment.

AWwBA is also dedicated to sharing national stories of women who write about firearms, teach firearms safety, sell firearms and much more.

AWwBA is not just for women. Much of the information we will disseminate will be valuable for anyone. However, this WILL be a place that caters more toward female interests in the shooting world and, as stated above, will be a vehicle to recognize and promote women and their contributions.

AWwBA will try and give you ways to obtain unique items and deals in all things shooting. From designer guns to a wide array of targets to ammunition. While we do not (currently) offer any of the aforementioned things for sale on our site, we will promote sites and retailers who do.

AWwBA does accept advertising but will not charge for the promotion if we solicit a business to do a story on.

AWwBA cares about what users, male and female, think and encourage anyone with questions or comments to not hesitate to email us at admin@awwba.com.

What American Women who Bear Arms ISN’T:

AWwBA does NOT cater to/support/display photos of, ANY persons or organizations that degrade women nor will we ever approve photos/advertisers that display women in a gratuitously sexual or submissive position. While some photos may not appeal to everyone’s taste, great care is taken to ensure that photos are not pictures that cannot be seen by anyone, using socially acceptable standards as the acid test.
